IMS Leadership Team

Brendan Cooley

Managing Director
Brendan’s commercial seagoing career spans 18 years and includes several years as Master on super yachts and large high-speed craft. Brendan first worked alongside IMS’s founder in 1994 and started at IMS as a Senior Master in 2007. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2010 and Managing Director in 2017. Brendan is a 2015 ‘40under40’ winner, holds an MBA in leadership from Curtin University in Perth, and a Diploma in Maritime Operations and Master’s certification. Brendan is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and serves as a director on the board of Breast Cancer Care WA. With over a decade of executive experience across private sector and community organisations, he operates with a strong emphasis on advocacy, governance, and strategy, particularly within dynamic or challenging business environments.

Treena Vivian

Crewing Manager/HSEQ Coordinator
Treena began her career in the maritime industry in 1992, working as Purchasing Officer and then Personnel Manager at Total Marine Services Pty Ltd until 2004. Treena progressed to become General Manager of Human Resources at Mermaid Marine Australia, where she remained until 2011. After completing some short-term roles, Treena commenced at IMS as Human Resources Manager in September 2014 and was promoted to Administration and Crewing Manager in 2019. Treena brings an in-depth knowledge of employee and industrial relations in the maritime industry, making her a valued member of our team who strives to ensure our crews are the very best available.

Steve Malcolm

Implementation Manager
In early 2015, Steve joined IMS, where he works in business and procedures development, including Quality Management System maintenance and adherence. Steve was previously with Austal, a world leader in aluminium commercial and defence ship building. During his eleven years with Austal, Steve filled roles with and gained qualifications for, production supervision, project management and business development. Prior to his time with Austal, Steve managed commercial fishing vessels in Solomon Islands and American Samoa. Steve’s earlier working life was spent first in the Royal Australian Navy, where he gained trade qualifications and later in maintenance and planning roles with a large, multi-national company.

Rebecca Pizzi

Finance Coordinator
Rebecca has over 25 years experience as a CPA, working in a variety of industries including the WA mining industry and, more recently, running a small Public Practice assisting small businesses with their day to day bookkeeping, payroll and BAS requirements. Rebecca commenced working with IMS in a part-time role in November 2021 and moved into a full-time role later in 2022. In her spare time, Rebecca and her family enjoy squidding, bike rides, 4wding and a little camping.

Alistair Fraser

Business Development Manager
Alistair is a seasoned maritime professional with over 40 years’ experience, beginning a blue water career direct from school and transitioning to European Coastal Master and Tug Master positions before moving ashore for marine superintendency; business development and senior management roles in the UK and Australia. Alistair joined IMS in September 2019 as Business Development Manager, working closely with the Commercial team to develop long-term sustainable client relationships whilst fixing their immediate vessel deliveries.

Tyla Cleggett

Business Development Coordinator
Tyla brings a dynamic energy to the IMS team and is now applying her maritime background to her role as Business Development Coordinator. Since joining IMS in September 2017 as a casual employee, Tyla has progressed from Administration Assistant to Senior Crewing Officer, where she has gained valuable insights into the maritime industry and mentored others. In her current role, Tyla is focused on learning the ropes of business development and commercial operations. She is dedicated to expanding her understanding of market opportunities and contributing to the company’s growth. Tyla’s enthusiasm for building connections and her commitment to personal and professional growth drive her success as she navigates this new chapter in her career.

Simon Luff

Shipping & Logistics Coordinator
With over 35 years of experience as a Ship’s Agent, and extensive experience in the project management of marine operations in the mining, Oil & Gas and commercial operations logistics management, Simon brings a wealth of Agency experience to the IMS team. Simon has the skills to manage all commercial and government aspects of vessels arrivals and departures from Australian and international ports.

Greg Carn

Logistics Officer
Greg has spent the majority of his career in shipping operations and the maritime supply chain. Working with one of Australia’s busiest commercial ports for 37 years, Greg’s diverse roles included collating, analysing controlling and sharing Trade and Shipping data. From forecasting commodities and shipping revenue to trend analysis and publishing freight and cargo information, Greg’s knowledge of coastal and overseas shipping is extensive . Now working within IMS’ Logistics and Shipping Agency team, Greg brings extensive commercial skills and a wealth of maritime knowledge to IMS.

Chris Hedges

Marine Superintendent
Chris has been on or around the ocean all his working life, starting as a deckhand for a Western Australian charter boat operator while still at school. He joined the commercial fishing industry, quickly working his way up to a skipper’s role by the age of 23 before moving into the commercial marine sector in the Pilbara region, working as a vessel Master, and was involved with on-water support for some of Australia’s mega resources construction projects. Chris progressed into shore-based management roles and, over the next 13 years, developed his operational management and commercial skills working with the major resource companies and Port Authorities. He joined IMS in September 2023 bringing with him the at-sea and shore-based skills to deliver the professional service our customers expect.

Shannen Howard

Crewing Officer
Shannen is our vibrant Crewing Officer. After a decade in real estate, Shannen seamlessly transitioned from a more laid-back lifestyle to dive headfirst into the maritime realm. Her passion and commitment to this new chapter are unmistakable, evident in her proactive work style and impeccable organisational skills that truly sweeten the deal. Shannen’s dedication has not only made her an integral part of the team but also a valuable asset to the maritime community. Beyond the professional sphere, Shannen’s adventurous spirit comes to life on the field playing touch football, landing big catches while fishing, and revelling in the great outdoors through camping escapades.

Ruby Kaur

Assistant Accountant
Ruby holds a Master of Commerce in Professional Accounting from Curtin University and is a qualified CPA. She has built extensive experience across industries such as transport logistics, public practice firms, and colleges, where she honed her skills in finance management, taxation, and accounting. Her expertise includes managing finances for small businesses, as well as taxation and accounting. Ruby’s detail-oriented approach and diverse experience make her an integral part of the IMS team.

Jon Cartwright

Marine Superintendent
With thirty-four years of experience in the marine industry, Jon Cartwright brings invaluable expertise to IMS as a Marine Superintendent. Starting his seagoing career at the age of eighteen, Jon has been involved in every aspect of marine operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of vessel deliveries. His passion for learning and his commitment to getting the job done right make him a key player in the IMS team.
